Yvoire, France

Typically the U.S.  and  Swiss holidays don't usually line up since we they don't celebrate the same holidays on the same days.  So normally when everyone is busy celebrating and spending time together as a family David is at work. For instance, we haven't spent the 4th of July together in the U.S. doing traditional 4th of July stuff in 3 years. On memorial day it was exciting because David was off of work here for Pentecost. We had beautiful weather and didn't want to sit at home so we decided to take a little day trip to Yvoire, France. Yvoire is a lovely medieval town in Haute-Savoie which is on the French side of Lake Geneva.  It's well known for it's beautiful medieval architecture and gorgeous flowers!!

We woke up nice and early to catch the boat from Geneva. Unfortunately, we couldn't find where it docked and when we saw the boat coming we couldn't get to the stop in time. That was the only time it took off from Geneva that day so we hopped on the bus and headed back to the apartment to pick up our friends car and we drove to Nyon to pick up the boat there. From Nyon it was only about a 30 minute ride.  We really enjoyed the town. There is plenty of shopping and food. It was packed with tourists! One of our favorite  shops was the local glass company. We did some damage in that store but came out with some beautiful glasses and a vase.

We ate lunch at a great restaurant and spent most of the time just walking around enjoying the day. The town was beautiful and the weather was perfect.

The only downside of the day was after we took the boat back to Nyon. When we arrived, we had to walk up what felt like the Matterhorn to get back to our car (didn't feel that steep on the way down for some reason). But if that's the worst part of the day, I'd say you're pretty lucky.

To see the rest of the pictures you can view the smilebox. I promise this time it is VERY short haha!!
